Orgelklang & Flötenzauber

Concerts with piccolo / concert flute & organ  flute: Andrea Will, Bonn • organ: H. A. Stamm

The piccolo flute, which is only seldom heard als a solo instrument in concerts, turns out to be an interesting partner playing together with the organ: in the high register crowing with sparkling figurations, in the deep register her sound approaching to the sound of the pan flute.  Besides baroque classical hits like the Largo  from the piccolo concerto by Vivaldi we play works by Fauré and Stamm (Doina , Unter dem Sternenhimmel , Pick Five , Take Seven,  Echoes of Joy, Fairy Flight) and E. Morricone (Gabriel's Oboe ).  Contrasting with the lyrical caracter of the flute sound the program sets accents with virtuoso organ pieces.  The CD "Orgelklang und Flötenzauber", recorded in may 2011 contains pieces from this repertoire.

Celtic Folk meets Organ

In a duo with violin and organ (and also piano) I play together with Birgit Heydel, who apart from classical violin playing is specialized on Celtic Folk fiddle tradition.  In our programm we combine soulful hymns and ballads of Irish, Scottish and Breton folk music with virtuoso fiddle instrumentals (gigs and reels) and own pieces by myself, f. e. my Suite.

Saxophon trifft Orgel

The title indicates that both instruments come from different realms of music.

The very flexible sound of the saxophone is seldom heard in church, but the expression range from a dark soft up to a glaring fanfare-like sound makes him and ideal soloist partner for the organ. The program contains works from the French late romantic period to own compositions by Stamm, who is not only as an organ virtuoso, but also the interpreter of his own pieces here. His pieces play with uncommon rhythms and often spark a musical firework.

The saxophone soloist, Martin Hilner born in 1971 in Willich, received saxophone lessons since 1982. Betwee 1984 and 1989 he won five times the first and once the 3rd prize in solo and in ensemble playing at "Jugend musiziert", a national music competition. 1993-2001 he studied at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf with Hans-Peter Mertens: 1999 he received his saxophone diploma with honors, 2001 graduate recital. Since 1995 he has taught as a music teacher at the local music school Meerbusch, since 1999 at the Jugendmusikschule Burscheid, since 2000 at the Musik- und Kunstschule Duisburg, since 2001 at the Ausbildungsmusikkorps in Hilden. He is a member of Krefeld Saxophone Quartet (1st prize at the World Music Competition in Kerkrade 1989; musical ambassador of Nordrhein-Westfalen), which is now called Linos Saxophone Quartet (www.linos-quartett.de). Concerts with the Krefeld-saxophone quartet led him to New York, Warsaw and Moscow. Since 1999 he is member of the saxophone quartet Aliage with Prof. Daniel Gauthier from Dortmund. He participated in numerous master classes with Iwan Roth, Eugene Rousseau, Arno Bornkamp and Claude Delange. As a soloist he has worked with various orchestras, f. e. in a concert tour to Klausenburg. He is a member of the Düsseldorf Big Band POJP (2nd place at Sea-Jazz Competition in Haarlem and concerts including Bob Mintzer, Till Bronner and Jiggs Wigham. He has performed with the ensemble Notabu Dusseldorf for Neue Musik and had engagements with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Opera, at the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, at the Bonn Opera and WDR Cologne.

Trio Festivo

The offer of the TRIO FESTIVO with two trumpets and organ, which has given concerts in Germany and Austria, includes not only the famous classical works for this instrumentation but also some by H. A. Stamm, who introduces himself thus both as a composer and as an interpreter of his own works. The optional addition of timpani creates a quasi-symphonic sonority.
