A new musical collaboration came about through a joint concert in Cologne at the end of September 2024 with the pan flute virtuoso Dorian Gheorghilas.
Here two excerpt from „Hora staccato“ by Grigoras Dinicu (1889-1949)
Two video summaries of the concert with excerpts from the traditional and classical repertoire below.
Born in 1976 in Chisinau, Moldova, he grew up in a family of artists and started playing the panpipe at the age of 6. He has been playing classical and traditional Moldovan music with professional orchestras since the age of 12 and has since taken part in numerous competitions, concerts and festivals in Moldova, Russia, Romania, France, Switzerland and Germany. At the age of just 18, he was the first panpipe player in Moldova to be invited as a soloist by the Orchestre National Philharmonique de Moldavie to perform W.A. Mozart’s Concerto in D major for flute and orchestra. Dorian Gheorghilas received his diploma as performer, soloist and professor of panflute at the Université des Arts ‘Grigore Muzicescu’ in Chisinau, Moldavia, is a prizewinner of national and international competitions and is a regular soloist with orchestra, piano, organ and cimbalom. Since 2010, he has been a professor of panflute in Strasbourg, France and Offenburg, Germany and is also a guest of honour at the Conservatoire de Roubaix, where he gives numerous masterclasses, educational meetings on the panflute and public concerts. For him, playing the panflute is a second mother tongue, an art of living that lives with his interpretations of beauty and truth, a connection of sound and vibration in the universe.
